Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Saturday criticised Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, saying his positions have repeatedly helped the BJP. "Rahul is effectively acting as the leader of the BJP’s B-team. That is the experience of the country," he added. Vijayan claimed that the Congress weakened Opposition unity in states like Delhi and Haryana, enabling the BJP’s rise.
Bihar CM Nitish Kumar was absent from Eid namaz at Patna's Gandhi Maidan for the first time in 20 years, deputing his son Nishant Kumar instead. Kumar visited several khanqahs in Patna to exchange Eid greetings. While Nitish is likely to step down after his Rajya Sabha election, Nishant recently decided to take plunge into politics by joining JD(U).
Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Saturday suspended six MLAs over involvement in anti-party activities, including cross-voting during recent election to four Rajya Sabha seats from Odisha. The suspended MLAs are Chakramani Kanhar, Naba Kishor Mallick, Souvic Biswal, Subasini Jena, Ramakanta Bhoi and Devi Ranjan Tripathy. Earlier, Congress expelled its three MLAs in Odisha for cross-voting in the polls.
Addressing a large gathering on Eid in Kolkata, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee on Saturday said that PM Narendra Modi and the BJP-led central government are the biggest infiltrators. Reacting to Mamata's remarks, BJP leader Shishir Bajoria stated, "Anyone who calls the Prime Minister of the country an infiltrator doesn't have the right to occupy the constitutional post."
Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi said India could be headed towards inflation as rupee is weakening against dollar and industrial fuel prices are rising. As many as 275 former judges, retired bureaucrats, and armed forces veterans criticised a report by the US Commission on International Religious Freedom, which suggested that the US government ban RSS. Calling the report "highly motivated", their statement said it displays "intellectual bankruptcy and deranged conclusions". They urged the US government to run background checks on all contributors.

During Eid celebrations in Kolkata, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee accused PM Narendra Modi of fostering a Hindu vs Muslim narrative. "He goes to Saudi Arabia and shakes hands there...However, when you shake hands abroad, you seem to forget everything. But when you return to India, the Hindu-Muslim narrative begins again," she said. "You are the bigger infiltrator," she added.
